Irishman Hubie Davison is the second to release on Midland's new edit-focused label, Regraded. On the A side 'Sanctified' Hubie pumps new life into Donna Summers' disco classic from 1976, 'Spring Affair.' But he’s not the first to edit Donna, we saw Dimitri from Tokyo beef it up on Disco Deviance a few years back.
The title track of the EP has been a regular in Midland’s sets over the past year as we first saw in his Boiler Room at Dekmantel, prompting him to ask Hubie if he would consider releasing it on Regraded. Months later here it is and I’m sure it will have plenty of air time on dancefloors across the world.

Alex Niggemann is one of my favourite producers at the moment and his new track, ‘Divergent', explicates exactly why. Released on his own label Aeon earlier this month, ‘Divergent' is a sci-fi-esque, spaced out techno thrasher that has seen support all the way up the food chain from the likes of: Maceo Plex, Tale of Us, Ame & Dixon just to name a few. The track itself is simple, there aren’t a huge amount of different elements to it. However, its the details that make it so special; the haunting and growling synths, hollow bass kicks, jarring reverbs and exemplary sound engineering make it a truly unique listening experience.
The difference between a very good producer and an outstanding one is marked by a thin line. In the case of Niggemann, he falls on the side that can make a track like 'Divergent', so clearly electronic in its foundations, sound as intrinsically visceral and mortal as it did to this listener. A remarkable track….

Kuedo brings us ‘Boundary Regulation’ off his EP, 'Assertion Of A Surrounding Presence.' This is by far my favourite track off the EP. Your immediately drawn in by this huge, slapping baseline along with brilliantly processed drums. Eerie synths complete the rest of the track providing it with a slight X Files or Final Fantasy feel. Check out the rest of the EP, its certainly an interesting listen.

Floating Points once again proves his production skills, pulling together so many different layers of instrumental richness. This track stands out to me but definitely buy the whole album as it's great for Sunday listening.

I first heard 'Lej' in the guest mix that Timmy P did for us in October, it stood out for me and so I asked him what the track was, he said it was his new one which is yet to be released, luckily for me he sent it over and I have been playing it over and over in the last two months. Safe to say this hard-hitting house number is one to get dancefloors going with its irresistible chunky bassline.
It's exciting times for the Oxford based DJ/Producer Timmy P having had a recent release on Kerri Chandler's illustrious 'Madhouse Records' and previously released on Local Talk, MadTech & Dirt Crew Recordings among others. 'Lej' is the lead track off Timmy P's EP, also entitled 'Lej', which was released on the 23rd November on Tom Budden's ALiVE Recordings - check out the full EP HERE.
