One To Watch :: Billy Kenny
Raised in the musically inspired city that is Leeds, Billy Kenny is yet another fine product to come from the city. Billy has been producing music for 7 years, but under various aliases along the way dabbling in all types of genres; Dub, Jungle, House, Garage, and primarily Bass Heavy House! It's safe to say this man is not scared of trying out all types of genres and we believe this versatility he has already shown in his career is such a strong point for his future with the ever changing electronic music scene!
Billy has released an enormous amount of bangers, ranging from 'This Is How We Do It' all the way to his most recent release, 'So Much Pressure'! He constructs hefty, high energy basslines with bouncy chords and minimal vocals that result in consistent dancefloor belters!
The German based DJ/Producer has received support from some of the big cheeses out there such as DJ EZ, Cameo, DJ Q (+Guest mix on BBC1xtra) to name a few. His recent spurt in fame has resulted in Kenny gracing the same stage as acts like Disclosure, Dusky, Shadow Child, Rudimental, and Jamie Jones! Billy has had releases on some the most exciting underground labels, Domino Effect Records, White Widow Records, MLP Music and Immoral Music. Our pick of his releases being the 'Twisted Speaker EP' on Domino Effect; mad stuff! We believe this year could be an even bigger one for Billy with his bumpy House sound rapidly growing in popularity over the UK and combined with his fine tuned production skills! In terms of label releases and upcoming tracks, what's the next big thing that we can look forward to?
"I've an EP with Poland based ''White Widow Records'' that was just released this month and one coming in February with Miami based label 'MLP.''
Whats next for you in the near future?
"I just moved to Germany last week and will be working closely with a duo here called ''Maximono.'' We should have our collaboration EP done by March, so look out for that!"
Where you would like to be in 5 years time?
